UV DTF Stickers in Saudi Arabia: A Practical Guide for Cups, Glass and Metal
You have probably seen a coffee tumbler or a perfume bottle with a crisp, slightly raised logo that looks printed straight onto the surface — no white box, no clear edge. That is almost always a UV DTF sticker. In Saudi Arabia, UV DTF has quickly become one of the most requested sticker types for cafés, gift shops and fragrance brands, because it delivers the look of direct printing with the flexibility of stickers.
This guide from Paper-Ink’s sticker printing service in Jeddah explains what UV DTF stickers are, where they work (and where they don’t), how to prepare your artwork, and how to apply them without bubbles or broken letters.
What are UV DTF stickers?
UV DTF stands for UV Direct-to-Film. The design is printed with inks that cure instantly under ultraviolet light — a process known as UV curing — onto an adhesive-backed film, then covered with a clear transfer film. You peel off the backing, press the design onto your product, and slowly remove the transfer film. Only the artwork stays on the surface.
Because the print is built up in layers (white ink, colour and a gloss varnish), the finish feels slightly raised and catches the light — which is exactly why it reads as “premium”.
UV DTF vs. regular vinyl vs. clear stickers
| UV DTF | Vinyl sticker | Clear sticker | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Background after applying | None — artwork only | White or coloured | Clear film, edges may show |
| Texture | Raised, glossy | Smooth | Smooth |
| Application | 3-step transfer | Peel and stick | Peel and stick |
| Best for | Cups, glass, metal, rigid gift boxes | Packaging, cartons, bags | Clear jars and bottles |
| Separate letters / cut-out logos | Excellent — no cutting needed | Needs precise die-cutting | Needs precise die-cutting |
If a clear label might be enough for your bottle, read our guide to clear stickers with white ink before deciding.
Which surfaces work best?
The rule of thumb is simple: hard, smooth and clean. Popular uses we see from Saudi businesses include:
- Reusable café cups, steel tumblers and glass mugs
- Perfume, oud and incense bottles
- Rigid gift boxes, wood and acrylic items
- Laptops, phones and hard plastic products
- Corporate awards and occasion items such as Saudi National Day merchandise
Where UV DTF is the wrong choice: fabric and clothing (they need heat-pressed textile DTF instead), very flexible or textured surfaces, uncoated cardboard and paper bags. For those, a paper or vinyl sticker will perform better.
Preparing your UV DTF artwork
- Send vector files (PDF, AI, SVG) or a high-resolution PNG with a transparent background. Our sticker file preparation guide covers the basics.
- Don’t add a background unless you want it printed — every coloured pixel becomes part of the transfer.
- Avoid hairline strokes. Lines thinner than roughly half a millimetre may not transfer cleanly.
- Measure the real flat area on curved cups; it is usually smaller than you expect.
- Consider the surface colour. On clear or dark glass, a white underlayer keeps colours vivid.
How to apply a UV DTF sticker
- Clean the surface with alcohol or glass cleaner and let it dry completely.
- Peel the backing film slowly; the design stays on the clear top film.
- Position it and press from the centre outwards to push out air.
- Rub firmly over the whole design for about a minute with your finger or a plastic squeegee.
- Peel the clear film back slowly at a low angle. If any part lifts, lay it down and rub again.
- Wait around 24 hours before the first wash so the adhesive can fully bond.
Cured UV ink handles daily handling, moisture and gentle hand washing well. To keep it looking new, avoid dishwashers, abrasive scrubbers and microwaves.

UV DTF Sticker FAQs
Are UV DTF stickers washable?
Yes. After curing for about 24 hours they handle gentle hand washing. Avoid dishwashers, abrasive scrubbers and microwaves to extend their life.
Can UV DTF stickers be used on clothing?
No. UV DTF is designed for hard, smooth surfaces such as glass, metal and plastic. Fabric requires heat-pressed textile DTF transfers.
What is the difference between UV DTF and clear stickers?
A clear sticker keeps a transparent film whose edges can be visible, while UV DTF transfers only the artwork, so it looks printed directly on the product.
Do UV DTF stickers work on curved tumblers?
Yes, as long as the design fits the relatively flat area of the cup and you press from the centre outwards while applying it.
Can I order a small quantity?
Yes. The product page offers several quantity options, and you can request a quote for custom sizes or quantities.
